The activists argue that Meta must first assess the potential risks of allowing minors into the metaverse, citing a report from the Center for Countering Digital Hate that found instances of abuse directed at minors by adults, including sexual harassment. Meta currently plans to adopt additional measures to protect young users before making Horizon Worlds available to teens, but advocacy groups argue that the company must prioritize safeguarding young people's best interests.
